Modal Auxiliary Verbs

1) Primary Auxiliary verbs : Be, Have, Do

2) Modal Auxiliary verbs: May-Might, Can-Could, Shall-Should, 

                                             Will-Would, Must, Need, 

                                             Dare, Ought, Used to.

3) Modal Auxiliary verbs hamesha Mukhya Kriyapad (Main Verbs) 
       ni sathe j vapray chhe.

4) Modal Auxilary pachhi hamesha kriyapad (Verb) nu mool roop j 
     aave chhe. 

5) Modal Auxiliary ne "s, es, ed, ing " jeva prataya  lagta nathi.

(I) May 

Use 1: Permission ( Parvangi aapva ke mangva mate 'May' vapray chhe. )

Ex. You may go home now.

Use 2: Possibility or Probability ( Skyata darshavava mate )

Ex. 1) She may be in the office.
      2) It may rain today.

Use 3: Purpose ( Hettu darshavava mate )

Ex. Work hard you may pass.

Use 4: Prayer, Blessing, Curse ( Prathna, Aashirvad k Sharap darshavava
                                                       mate)

Ex. May God bless you ! 



(II) Might

Use 1: Stronger Probability ( Prabal Shakyata Batavava mate 'Might'
                                                      vapray chhe.)

Ex. He might be sleeping.

Use 2: Purpose in Past form (Bhutkal na Sandarabh ma Hettu
                                                                       darshavava mate)

Ex. He worked hard so he might pass.

(III) Can 

Use 1: Ability ( Karya-kshamta darshavava mate 'can' vapray chhe.)

Ex. My Mother can read without glasses.

Use 2: Permission ( Parvangi mate) Informal Language
                                           (aanopcharikvaat-chit karva mate)

Ex. Can I use your camera ?

Use 3: Prohibition (Manai karava mate )

Ex. You cannot smoke here.

(IV) Could

Use 1: Ability in Past form ( Bhutkal na Sandarbh ma Karya-kshmta
                                                  darshavava mate 'Could' vapray chhe)

Ex. It was so dark that we could not see anything.

Use 2: Bhutkal ma kai k thai sakyu hot te darshavava mate

Ex. I could have done M.Phil. if I had tried.

Use 3: Indirect Speech ma 'could ' no upyog thay chhe.

Ex. Meeta said that she could play well.

Use 4:  Permission ( Parvangi leva mate)

Ex. Could I Play here ?

(V) Will 

Use 1: Second and Third person ma Bhavishya Kaal darshavava mate
                'Will' vapray chhe.

Ex. 1) My father will come tomorrow.
      2) They will finish the work in a day or two.

Use 2: Real Condition ( Vastavaik Sharat darshavava mate)

Ex. If you work hard, you will pass.

Use 3: Prediction ( Dharna darshavava mate)

Ex. 1) The game will be finished by now.
      2) A dog will bark.
      3) She will always talk for hours if you you give her a chance.

Use 4: Bija Purush ma Prashnath vakya ma Polite request athva
               Invitation aapva mate

Ex. 1) Will you open the door, please ?
      2) Will you come to my house, please ?

Use 5: Determination in the first person ( Pahela Purush ma Nirnay
                                                                          darshavava mate)

Ex. We will fight for our rights.

Use 6: Promise in the first person ( Pahela Purush ma Vachan aapva
                                                             mate )

Ex. I will give you five hundred rupees tomorrow.

Use 7: Threat in the first person ( Pahela Purush ma Dhamki aapva mate)

Ex. I will teach him a lesson.

Use 8: Willingness in the first person ( Pahela Purush ma Ichha k Irado
                                                                       Darshavava mate)

Ex. I will come with you.
